& Waterfront Conference Center

Convention Program (Word)

he 22nd Annual VCCA Convention will take place at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Located in downtown Portsmouth's historic Olde Towne district, the hotel overlooks the Elizabeth River and the skyline of neighboring Norfolk. Attractions from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach are nearly equal distant from our central location.

This year, our theme is “Charting the Course for Dateline 2009.” The Honorable Dr. Belle S. Wheelan, Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia, will open the convention on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Wheelan, former president of Central Virginia and Northern Virginia Community Colleges, is a dynamic, in-demand speaker and long-time friend and supporter of the VCCA. The banquet keynote speaker, Dr. Edwin L. Barnes, President Emeritus, New River Community College, will charm, amuse and captivate us with his insight, anecdotes and wisdom.

We are pleased to offer the following hotel room rates: $95.00 plus 12.5% tax for a single room or double room. To reserve rooms, please call (757) 673-3000 by 5 pm, Monday, August 30, 2004.
