The Executive Committee orientation meeting for new members was called to order at 10:15 a.m. in the Monticello Room, Hyatt Richmond, in Richmond, Virginia, by VCCA President, Virginia Hartman.

Discussion among outgoing members and new members included guidelines for conducting VCCA business and general information concerning responsibilities required of the position.

Evelyn "Evie" Tobian presented a letter of resignation to the President, citing reasons which would not allow her to continue as Secretary for VCCA. With regret her resignation was accepted by the Executive Committee. After deliberation and discussion, the new President Lori Wack asked Monica Terry to fill the Secretary position for the 1999-2000 term. Monica Terry agreed to do so. The Executive Committee approved.

Additional appointments made by Lori Wack (BRCC) as the 1999-2000 VCCA President included Co-Parliamentarian positions: Terry Whisnant (SSVCC) and Jennifer Allman (SSVCC); Membership Liaison: Deborah Canada (JSRCC); Publications Liaison: Sue Painter (LFCC); Archivist: Sue Captain (SWVCC); and PG&D Coordinator, Virginia Hartman (LFCC).

The Executive Committee did not submit the name of Robert "Bobby" C. Wrenn for a Lifetime VCCA membership honor to the 1999 Assembly of Delegates for consideration because he was unable to attend the meeting. A committee decision prior to the Delegates meeting was made to postpone this request until the 2000 Assembly of Delegates in hopes that Bobby Wrenn could receive the honorary membership in person. A special invitation will be sent him prior to the 2000 Convention.

Members whose terms were ending were commended for their outstanding contributions to community college education and the VCCA during their tenure on the Executive Committee. With no further business brought before the committee, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn. Motion carried. The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be November 4, 1999, in Woodstock, Virginia, at the Ramade Inn.
