VCCA Executive Committee
MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD

November 19, 1998

The meeting was called to order at the Ramada Inn in Woodstock, Virginia, by President Virginia Hartman at 6 p.m.

Members Present:

Members Absent:
Evelyn Tobian (VCCS) – Secretary
Claudia Macon (TCC) – Treasurer
Monica Terry (TCC) – Membership Liaison

New members to the Executive Committee were welcomed and introductions were made. A role call of those present was answered: "Identify a leadership skill/strength you bring to the VCCA Executive Committee" and "Why I joined VCCA."

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes from the September 3, 1998; September 4, 1998; September 30, 1998 pre-convention Executive Committee meetings; and the October 5, 1998 Assembly of Delegates Meeting. Motion carried.

In Claudia Macon’s absence, Gwen Smith presented the prepared Treasurer’s Report. The committee reviewed the report and a motion was made and passed to table further discussion of the report until the January 1999 when the Treasurer would be in attendance and respond to any questions the committee may have.

The president will forward two questions to the treasurer regarding the bank services charges and to obtain information on the Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP).

The Convention Evaluation report was tabled until the Secretary could be available at the January meeting in Harrisonburg to respond to questions the committee might have.

In Monica Terry’s absence, Gwen Smith presented the Membership Report-- 925 members. The Executive Committee went on record to commend the VCCA College Contacts, Commission Officers, and College Presidents, Provosts, and Deans whose ongoing support of VCCA professional development programs helped the Executive Committee to meet and exceed the membership goal of 900.

The Publications Liaison shared information on printing needs for the Spring Leadership Conference and Fall Convention. The VCCA Newsletter: Leadership issue will be mailed in January. The committee members were asked to submit stories to Sue Painter.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting Motion carried. The meeting will reconvene on Friday, November 20, 1998 at 8:30 a.m.
