The Reading of the January 21 and 22, 1999, Executive Committee minutes was postponed until the next meeting.

Evelyn Tobian, secretary, reported on the evaluation from the Fall Convention.  Of the 330 Conference participants, 84 returned their evaluation, or 25%.  It was evident by the numbers, that Commission Meetings are not well attended.  Suggestions were made to add technology to the conference.  Concern was expressed how this might conflict with the agenda of New Horizons.  It was also suggested that the Executive Committee look at the possibility of restructuring the Commissions.  Also, someone thought we could raise our numbers of attendance at the Fall conference if we held pre-conference activities for faculty and staff.  These two separate sessions could be sponsored through PG&D Funds.  Corporate sponsorship was also brought up.  Melba Taylor and Deborah Canada will look into this.

Claudia Macon, treasurer, reported that we have an account balance of $29,541.61.  The treasurer distributed the new travel and expense vouchers that were developed, and reported on the modifications that had been included in the February 1999 Leadership Handbook.

Claudia also reported that we now have new account numbers for PDG Income, Leadership Conference Income, Commission of Accounts, Bank Charges and Insurance Expenses.

Claudia also reported to the Executive Committee that she had secured Westbrook Tax Accounting Services to do the taxes of the Commission.

A motion was made and seconded to accept Westbrook Tax Accounting Services to do the taxes of the Commission.  Motion carried.

The President, on behalf of the entire Executive Committee, commended Claudia Macon for her dedication and service to VCCA and the Executive Committee.

The President reported on the Master Teacher Seminar and the selection process for scholarships funded through the Faculty/Instructional Affairs Commission.

Also, the President has been asked to speak on VCCA at Paul D. Camp.  She suggested that we propose forming a speaker's bureau pool for people who talk on different areas of education.

The VCCA Newsletter is now on the Web.  The Leadership Handbook has been redone and was printed at Lord Fairfax Community College. The Web address is http://www.br.cc.va.us/vcca/vcca.html.

Sue Painter reported that we currently have enough copies of Leadership Handbook materials; however, the VCCA Constitution and Bylaws will need to be reprinted for distribution at the Spring Leadership Conference in Richmond.

Melba Taylor presented a PG&D request for Tidewater Community College Support Staff.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the proposal.  Motion carried.

Sue Captain provided a listing of all of the materials that she had gone through.  The information covers the period of 83-97, but has some thin spots.  She will report back on the progress of locating information on the Support Staff issue.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 10:30 p.m. Motion carried.  The next meeting of the VCCA Executive Committee will be held on April 1-2, 1999, in Woodstock, VA.

Respectfully submitted,

Evelyn Tobian

1998-2000 VCCA Executive Committee Secretary
