The meeting was called to order at 8:30 p.m. at the Refuge Inn in Chincoteaque, Virginia, by VCCA President, Virginia Hartman.

The President turned the meeting over to the President Elect to review the tentative convention schedule.

 

The Faculty/Instructional Commission will sponsor the Wednesday evening pre-convention activity and the Support Staff Commission will sponsor the Thursday morning professional development pre-convention technology workshops.

The co-host colleges will assist with audio-visual, registration, and introduction of concurrent sessions. Keynote speakers are confirmed for the General Sessions.

 

Revisions were made to Commission meeting times to allow members to attend more than one Commission of interest as requested by the Black Concerns Commission.

 

The Legislative Action Commission will again sponsor the Chancellor’s Colloquy on Thursday evening. The Parliamentarian will oversee the election process and balloting on Friday morning at the Registration Table.

 

Confirmations have been received from the Concurrent Session presenters. There are 21 sessions this year spanning a wide variety of topics for participants.

 

Sponsors and vendors will be included in the program this year. Approximately ten vendors have been contacted. A secured room will be provided them.  Sue Painter was commended for her diligence in securing vendors and door prizes.

 

The theme for the banquet this year is “Putting on the Ritz.” Members are invited to dress in semi-formal attire. An awards ceremony will be the program for the banquet. Recognitions will include the first place winners of the “Honoring Excellence in Publications” competition.

 

Executive Committee members are responsible for collecting door prizes to be given away at the breakfast on Saturday morning. Winners must be present to win.

 

This year a new officers’ meeting will be held after the Assembly of Delegates. The 1999-2000 Executive Committee meeting will follow.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 11:00 a.m. Motion carried.  The next meeting of the VCCA Executive Committee will be held on September 2, 1999, at the Hyatt Richmond.
