Meeting Minutes

October 3, 2001

 

 

Those present:                    Linda Rhinard, Jennifer Allman, Debra Belcher, Carolyn Haines, Bruce Carroll, Jim Bates, Barbara Moore, Lori Wack, Barbara Ratliff, Kay Robertson, Linda Bursey, Aileen Girard, Donna Mayes

Welcome                               Linda Rhinard called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Greenbrier - Chesapeake.

 

Approval of Minutes          A motion was made to accept the September 14, 2001 meeting minutes as written with one correction.  The motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report             A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report.  Motion carried.

 

President’s Report             Linda thanked the Committee for their support during the last year.

 

Member-at-Large Report

Publications                         No report.

 

Membership                         Linda Bursey reported on membership stating that to date there were 554 paid members.  There was a brief discussion on how to increase membership.

                                               

Media                                     Aileen Girard reported that the Media Showcase booklet was printed and looked great.  She suggested the Media Showcase fall under the guide of the Media Liaison.

Commission Reports

 

Institutional Advancement              No report. 

 

Faculty/Instructional Affairs            No report.

 

Support Staff Commission             Debra reported that the Commission would be electing all officers due to the resignation of the Chair Elect.

 

            Legislative Action                             No report.

 

Black Concerns                                No report.

                                                           

Student Services                              The Student Showcase will be held October 12-14 in Charlottesville.  Jennifer will be representing the Board. 

                                                           

Research and Publications            Jim stated, “We have a baby.”  No other details were available.

 

Learning Resources                        No report.

 

 

Linda reminded the Commission Liaisons to reiterate at the commission meetings that if you are not a member of the VCCA you cannot hold an office and you cannot propose a PG&D.

 

Adjournment                       Having no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 10 a. m.; and the remainder of the day was devoted to preparation of the Convention packets.
