Welcome Jennifer Allman called the meeting to order at 10:40 a.m. at the Chesapeake Conference Center, Chesapeake, VA.

President’s Report She thanked all of the former Committee members for all their hard work and dedication to the VCCA and welcomed all the new Committee members.

Jennifer passed out information for each member present and went over some of the items including the 2001-2002 working calendar of upcoming meeting dates. She also asked that personal information be returned to her within a week and that Commission Liaisons secure the names of the new officers of their commission.

Sue Captain is sending her archive records to the State Library and has relinquished the position. Jennifer asked Bruce Carroll to coordinate the archives.

Jennifer also expressed that committees designated in the Leadership Handbook, i.e., Convention Committee, Constitutional Review Committee, Duties and Responsibilities Review Committee, and an ad hoc Nominating Committee will be formed from the Executive Committee, as well as the VCCA membership as needed. Jim Bates, as the new President-Elect and Convention

Coordinator will be making assignments to Convention Committee members in the near future to make the position of President-Elect more manageable.

The Executive Committee will be meeting at the Holiday Inn Koger Conference Center in Richmond on November 8-9 to preview the facility as a possible site for the 2003 VCCA convention. A tour of John Tyler Community College’s new Midlothian Campus will be planned for Thursday afternoon to be arranged by Rena Mallory and Kay Robertson.

Jennifer also expressed gratitude to our College Contacts and said that she would be making a telephone call to each contact before the November meeting to solicit suggestions/concerns, etc. regarding the organization. She also challenged each At-Large-Member to make a personal contact with College Contacts in their constituency.

Past President’s Report Linda Rhinard thanked everyone for the work they had done this year and for making the convention a success. She also reported that Jennifer Allman and Jim Bates will be attending the Student Leadership Conference in Charlottesville on October 12-13, 2001, to assist Margaret Dutton in the VCCA Student Showcase Awards ceremony on Saturday morning.
